Reactive Chemicals

MEL Chemicals supply a range of zirconium based reactive chemicals, suitable for use in various applications including adhesives, antiperspirants, printing inks, oil production, paint, pigment coating, metal treatment, waterproofing and flameproofing.

AMMONIUM ZIRCONIUM CARBONATE

A clear, alkaline solution containing approximately 20 wt% ZrO2. AZC contains anionic, hydroxylated zirconium polymers.

Ammonium Zirconium Carbonate has various uses including as a binder insolubiliser and a cross-linking agent.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

BACOTE

Bacote is a modified form of AZC with improved stability in respect of elevated temperatures, pH, and of hydrolysis when diluted.

Bacote is used as an alkaline cross-linker for paper and paperboard.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZIRCONIUM ACETATE SOLUTION

An acidic solution believed to contain neutral species based on a hydroxy-bridged zirconium polymer. MEL Chemicals supply two concentrations of this material; 22 wt% ZrO2 and 30 wt% ZrO2.

Zirconium Acetate solution can be used for various applications; including use as a cross-linker, a ceramic binder, in catalysis or for waterproofing.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZIRCONIUM BASIC CARBONATE PASTE

A moist cake containing approximately 42% ZrO2. It dissolves readily in both mineral and organic acids.

Zirconium basic carbonate can be used in the preparation of other zirconium compounds.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZIRCONIUM HYDROXYCHLORIDE SOLUTION

A clear, acidic solution containing cationic hydroxylated polynuclear zirconium species. The solution contains approximately 20 wt% ZrO2. The chloride ions are not bonded to the zirconium.

Zirconium hydroxycloride solutions can be used in the synthesis of other zirconium compounds.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZICONIUM NITRATE SOLUTION

A clear, acidic solution containing cationic hydroxylated polynuclear zirconium species. MEL Chemicals supply two concentrations of this material; 20 wt% ZrO2 and 30 wt% ZrO2.

Zirconium Nitrate solutions can be used for various applications; including use as a raw material for zirconium compounds, a ceramic binder or in catalysis.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZIRCONIUM ORTHOSULPHATE SOLUTION

An acidic solution believed to contain anionic species based on a hydroxy-bridged polymer. MEL Chemicals supplies an 18 wt% solutions based on ZrO2, prepared at a nominal sulphate:ZrO2 molar ratio of 2:1.

Zirconium Orthosulphate solution can be used for various applications; including use as a cross-linker, a raw material for zirconium compounds or in pigment coating.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZIRCONIUM OXYCHLORIDE SOLUTION

A clear, acidic solution containing the equivalent of approximately 20 wt% ZrO2. The solutions contains cationic hydroxylated polynuclear zirconium species.

Zirconium oxychloride solution can be used in the synthesis of other zirconium compounds.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZIRCONIUM PHOSPHATE

An amorphos, white, free flowing powder with an average particle size of 30-40 microns.

Zirconium phosphate can be used as an ion exchanger or as a starting material for zirconium phosphate based ceramics.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information

ZIRCONIUM PROPIONATE

A white free flowing powder that is insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol, ethyl acetate and isopropanol.

Zirconium Propionate is used as in the inks industry and as a raw material for other zirconium compounds.

Please see the data sheet downloads for further information.

ZIRMEL

Zirmel is a clear, alkaline solutions of potassium zirconium carbonate. Zirmel is available at a range of ZrO2 concentrations.

Zirmel is used as an alkaline cross-linkers in paper and paperboard.
